Pointers on Hair Removal for Men

Hair removal for men is not an absolute thing, nor is it compulsory. Most men are not as concerned as women in removing every inch of hair to be found on their bodies. One thing that makes a man look more masculine is having hair on his body.
But now that we’ve passed the age of the cavemen and the hippies, men who look like big, hairy beasts are often looked upon as poorly-groomed or ill-bred. Naturally, there are exceptions in some groups, but manscaping has gone from virtually unheard-of to commonplace in today’s culture. It is no longer limited to gay men, male models and gigolos. The average middle-class straight male has begun to take up the art.

Hair removal for men should be restricted to some areas, and with modulation. Men do not want to look like an albino animal, an alien creature, or even a woman. If you are a male past puberty who intends to start grooming, then here a few guidelines on where and where not to go.

1. Keep the eyebrows natural-looking. “Natural” means that you don’t look like you have two gigantic caterpillars sitting on and overpowering your face. It means that you do not have masses of scattered hair going every which way. It means that you can see where one eyebrow ends and the other begins. It also means that you do not have very fine or highly-arched brows. These will make you look like a drag queen. Male eyebrows lose their masculinity when they begin to look like they were purposefully shaped. The key is simply trimming, plucking or waxing around the edges. Never ever shave them all off and draw them on.

2. Keep the back smooth. A hairy back will make you look like a gorilla or a werewolf. Having it waxed is perhaps the best option. There are also back shavers for those who do not want to undergo the painful agony of waxing.

3. The chest need not be hairless. This is a matter of preference. Some men feel more attractive with hairy chests. This is acceptable as long as they don’t let the hair grow too long. There is still a difference between masculine and ape-like. Try to wrap your chest hair around your finger. If you are able to do so, some trimming is in order. You can also choose to shave or wax it all off if you want to look like a beach hunk or an underwear model. Depilatories are another option, especially for those with thick and dense hair that makes waxing unbearable.

4. Do not shave your private parts. True, they may make your private parts look bigger. But when the hair grows back, you will have quite an itch. The trick is simply to trim. There are body grooming trimmers in the shops which you can use for this purpose.

5. Having a beard, moustache or goatee is a matter of personal preference, but do remove hair in your ears and nose. Hair removal is necessary when there is visible hair sticking out from these crevices. This looks very unhygienic and unruly. They need not be plucked or waxed out, but they can be trimmed. Be careful of hair removal creams, some of them may be too strong for this purpose. Check the specifications of the product first.

6. Do not shave your arms and legs unless your profession or sport requires it. You can trim them lightly if the hair is getting a little too long. Try to make them look natural.

Hair removal for men is nothing to be ashamed of. Although they may not openly admit it, studies have shown that the majority of men between twenty and forty-nine practice some form of hair control or removal.
